26. RECALLS VS TECNIQUICAL SERVICE BULLETINS (TSB’s)

If your vehicle is involved in a Recall you will be notified by mail and you will bring your vehicle in for the correction. Recalls are strictly safety issues and the manufacturer must correct any defect. HOWEVER, and this is a big however, if your vehicle has a defect that is not safety related but they are very aware of the problem, recalls-vs-tech-service-bulletins.jpg

you must mention that you are having the problem before they will offer the repair. This repair is a Tecniquical Service Bulletin. For instance when I purchased my vehicle I had a problem with the drivers side electric window not working properly. I mentioned it to the dealership and they happily replaced the motor on the driver’s side window. I was unaware that they were having frequent problems with the electric windows for the model of vehicle that I purchased but they only replaced one motor, not both. Now, several years later, the other window is not working and they will not take responsibility for the passenger window. If I had known I would have had them change both motors. This was not a safety issue, this was a TSB.
