Car Buying Game

When you purchase a pre owned vehicle the rules are a little bit different. There are three different scenarios: The vehicle is still warranted under the manufactures warranty. There is still time to purchase an extended warranty. Or it is sold, “AS IS.”

Please do not fool yourself, “AS IS’ it is just that, “AS IS.”
The dealership will not assist you in any way if you drive off the lot and there is a problem the next day. One of my customers had purchased an older model vehicle, “as is.” He called me the next day and said that the vehicle was leaking transmission fluid all over the driveway and he was very upset and almost in tears. I pressed hard to get the vehicle repaired, as it would cost major dollars to do so. The General Manager was very upset with me for pushing for the repair but it was the right thing to do. I felt that we shouldn’t sell vehicles that were on the way to the junkyard. The General Manager did not see it that way.
